Here's All the Marvel Movies & Series Disney Announced Through 2023

Marvel Studios announced more than 10 movies, series and specials through 2023 at Disney Investor Day. Here's every one.

OK Pop Culture Week-ers, you know I'm a huge Marvel Studios fan, as so many of you are. So when rumors surrounded that Marvel Studios was going to have a lot of stuff to announce on Disney Investor Day, you know how excited I was. What I didn't expect was that Marvel Studios would announce more than 10 movies, series and specials through 2023. I mean, it was one exciting announcement after another.

So, without further ado, let's dig in to the more than 10 movies, series and specials Marvel Studios announced at Disney Investor Day!

WandaVision

WandaVision was previously announced, but we got a brand new trailer for the limited event series and it looks absolutely incredible. WandaVision kicks off the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) Phase 4 & hits Disney+ on January 15th.

Marvel Studios’ “WandaVision” blends the style of classic sitcoms with the Marvel Cinematic Universe in which Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany)—two super-powered beings living their ideal suburban lives—begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems. The new series is directed by Matt Shakman; Jac Schaeffer is head writer.

The Falcon And The Winter Soldier

The Falcon And The Winter Soldier follow WandaVision debuting on Disney+ on March 19th. We got another trailer for this series and it is action packed and filled with lots of Easter egg goodness for us Marvel fans.

Following the events of “Avengers: Endgame,” Sam Wilson/Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) team up in a global adventure that tests their abilities—and their patience—in Marvel Studios’ “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.” The all-new series is directed by Kari Skogland; Malcolm Spellman is the head writer. Coming March 19, 2021.

Black Widow

Black Widow is the previously announced - and long delayed - solo film for the first female MCU Avenger. It serves as the 24th MCU film and was originally supposed to hit theaters May 1, 2020 before being delayed to November due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Pushed once again, this time to May 7, 2021, the film takes place between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War giving us a side story that could potentially set up a new assassin donning the Black Widow name.

Black Widow hits theaters May 7, 2021.

Loki

Premiering on Disney+ in May, Loki stars Tom Hiddleston returning as our favorite God of Mischief. The series will show us what happened to Loki in and after the universe altering events of Avengers: Endgame. We got a first look trailer on Disney Investor Day and it seems to definitely be a time warping, mind altering ride. Owen Wilson and Richard E. Grant are also in this series.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings stars Simulacra Liu as Shang-Chi who must confront his past when he is drawn into the mysterious Ten Rings organization. Awkwafina and Michelle Yeoh also star. It is the 25th film in the MCU.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings hits theaters July 9, 2021.

What If...?

What If...? is Marvel Studios first animated series, serving as an anthology of stories taking place in the MCU but each story with a twist. Based on the classic Marvel Comics series, the first season of 10 episodes will find such "What If...?" stories as "What If T'Challa Became Star Lord?" and "What If Peggy Carter Took The Super Soldier Serum?"

Awesomely, all of the characters will be voiced by their live action counterpart, including Chadwick Boseman, who had recorded his episode before his tragic passing.

What If...? debuts on Disney+ in Summer 2021.

Marvel Studios Eternals

Eternals is a story spanning thousands of years and features a group of immortal heroes who are forced out of the shadows and must reunite to fight against one of mankind's oldest enemies, The Deviants. Starring Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Salma Hayek and Kit Harrington, this ensemble film will take viewers further into time and space then we've been so far in the MCU.

Eternals hits theaters November 5, 2021.

Ms. Marvel

Ms. Marvel will introduce Kamala Khan to the MCU. The 16 year old Pakistani American girl from Jersey City loves fan fiction and Captain Marvel. While she doesn't fit in at school, her life is changed dramatically when she gets powers of her own.

The Ms. Marvel comic books and character are extremely popular and the first look we got at Disney Investor Day shows us that this series will most definitely live up to expectations. Ms. Marvel debuts on Disney+ in Fall 2021.

Marvel Studios Hawkeye

Hawkeye is the much anticipated series featuring Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye. Details are sparse, but we do know that Hawkeye teams up with Marvel Comics favorite Kate Bishop who will be played by Hailee Steinfeld. Vera Farmiga joins the cast in an as yet unknown role .

Hawkeye debuts on Disney+ in late 2021.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is the highly anticipated sequel to 2016's Doctor Strange. Starring Benedict Cumberpatch as Doctor Strange, the sequel will heavily connect with the events of WandaVision, which is why Elisabeth Olsen will costar in the film as Wanda. Additionally, the film - directed by Sam Raimi - will introduce America Chavez, who Marvel Comics fans will know as both Miss America and a onetime Captain America.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hits theaters March 25, 2022.

She-Hulk

She-Hulk has had rumors swirling around it for years, but Marvel Studios mastermind Kevin Feige confirmed that the series is coming and will be a workplace style comedy centered around a lawyer who specializes in superhuman related cases.

Tatiana Maslaney will star as Jennifer Waters / She-Hulk. Mark Ruffalo will feature as The Hulk and Tim Roth will return as The Abomination. She-Hulk will debut in 2022.

Moon Knight

Moon Knight is another highly anticipated title coming to the MCU. The series will follow a vigilante suffering from Dissociative Identity Disorder. Described as an Indiana Jones style action adventure, that will see his distinct personalities heavily featured in the show against a backdrop of ancient Egyptian iconography. Moon Knight hits Disney+ in 2022.

Thor: Love and Thunder

Thor: Love and Thunder is the previously announced third installment in the Thor films and marks the return of both Natalie Portman and Tessa Thompson in their roles. Christian Bale joins the cast as the villain Gorr the God Butcher. The story will follow Portman's Jane, who will don Mjolnir to become the Goddess of Thunder.

Thor: Love and Thunder hits theaters May 6, 2022.

Secret Invasion

Secret Invasion is one of the most well known major storylines of recent times in the Marvel Comics world. The storyline is centered around the revelation that shape shifting Skrulls had been secretly infiltrating Earth for years. The limited event series teases a cosmic crossover, presumably bringing together all of the new MCU heroes with our more seasoned MCU heroes in a climax featuring Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Talos (Ben Mendelsohn)

Ironheart

Ironheart follows 15 year old engineering student Riri Williams who designs a suit of armor similar to the Iron Man armor, using material she stole from her MIT campus. While the highly popular comic series heavily featured Iron Man, it is as yet unknown how it will play out in the MCU incarnation.

Armor Wars

Interestingly, Armor Wars was announced immediately after Ironheart. This could mean nothing at all or it could be an MCU style teaser. Don Cheadle will return as James Rhodes aka War Machine who must deal with the aftermath of Tony Starks technology falling into devious hands. This is another one that heavily featured Iron Man in the Marvel Comics version (& Ant-Man too) so it will be interesting to see how this is taken on.

The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special

The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special was announced as a fun one off. Kevin Feige mentioned that this was something they've been wanting to do, but were unable to do before Disney+ helped extend the MCU into ways not possible before. It will be written and directed by James Gunn and will feature the Guardians themselves. Filming will take place during the filming of The Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 and will debut for the Holiday season in 2022.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

Ant-Man and Wasp: Quantumania serves as the third film in the Ant-Man series and has Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lily, Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer are all returning.

I Am Groot

I Am Groot will be a series of shorts airing on Disney+ featuring the Galaxy's most beloved talking tree.

Captain Marvel 2

Captain Marvel 2 was also officially announced, planned for a 2023 release date in theaters. Additionally, Ms. Marvel's Iman Vellani will join the cast as will Teyonah Parris who will play an adult Monica Rambeau.

Marvel Studios Fantastic Four

Marvel Studios' Fantastic Four is the highly anticipated reboot of Marvel's first family. Jon Watts, director of Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home (and the upcoming third installment) is on board to direct.

Additionally, Black Panther 2 was announced. Feige confirmed that T'Challa will not be recast, but the sequel will be a beautiful tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman while continuing the story of Wakanda. The Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 is also coming in 2023 with James Gunn returning to write and direct.

So, what do you think? I honestly am excited about each one of these titles and I can't decide which one I'm the most excited for. Although 2020 brought us the first year with no Marvel Studios content, 2021 and beyond will more than make up for that.

Let's talk about it!
