Did you know each of us loses on average more than 15 socks a year, which can add up to more than 1,200 lost in a lifetime. Besides keeping your feet warm here are some clever uses for long socks:
Ease neck tension
Create a neck pillow: fill a long sock with 2 cups of rice and a few drops of lavender essential oil, then secure it with a tight knot. Pop it in the microwave for 30 seconds for an aromatherapy treat.
Winter-proof your car
Slide long socks over the windshield wipers the night before a snow storm to prevent ice crystals from forming.
Protect your valuables
Use knee socks to pack fragile things, like glassware and ceramics, during a move.
Clean your floor
if you're out of refills and need something in a pinch, slip a long sock around the base of your sweeper to whisk dust away.
Retrieve dropped items
Slide the end of a vacuum hose into a sock to pick up screws, nails, or earrings without losing them.
