January 25th is National Plan For Vacation Day! As the title suggests, this is a day set to encourage Americans to plan our time off. Let’s face it, many of us work very hard and NEVER take time off. And worse? When we do take our well-earned time off…we feel guilty about it.

While vacation planning doesn’t begin or end with the end of January, the frigid cold is a great motivator for us to think ahead to warmer weather…and vacation days. Thing is, for many Americans, those vacation dreams turn out to be just that: a dream. How so?

Americans leave more than 600-million vacation days unused. According to Project: Time Off, planners are more likely to take all their vacation time in a given work year and take more extended vacations than non-planners. Why’s that matter? Those planners are also happier with their jobs, relationships, and health. So don’t knock it – get to it!
