This really makes me feel like we're living in the future . . . and also the past? Hot air balloon rides to SPACE are about to become a thing. And the price tag is somewhat accessible . . . if you just take a second mortgage out on the house.
A company called Space Perspective is taking reservations, with the first space balloon rides set for 2024. Up to eight people can go at a time . . . each trip lasts six hours . . . and one ticket costs $125,000, even though it won't REALLY get you to space. And you won't experience weightlessness.
For the first two hours, you slowly ascend up to 100,000 feet, which is about a third of the way to space. Then you just chill up there for two hours before slowly coming back, and splashing down in the ocean.
