More new music from Sam Hunt has arrived! The country singer released "Hard To Forget" on Friday morning (February 7).
The new track opens up with a nod to Country Music Hall of Famer, Webb Pierce with his 1953 hit, "There Stands The Glass." As Pierce's song slowly fades away, Hunt's vocals begin. The lyrics find Hunt singing about life after a breakup and the struggle to forget his ex.
"You’ve got a cold heart and the cold-hard truth / I got a bottle of whiskey, but I’ve got no proof / That you showed up tonight in that dress just to mess with my head," Hunt sings in the chorus. "So much for so long, outta sight, outta mind / Girl, you’re lookin’ so good, it’s drivin’ me outta mine / Aw, you’re breaking my heart / Baby, you’re playing hard to forget."
"Hard To Forget" was co-written by Hunt alongside Luke Laird, Shane McAnally, Josh Osborne and Ashely Gorley. "There Stands The Glass" writers Audrey Grisham, Russ Hull and Mary Jean Shurtz are also credited as co-writers.
Earlier this week Hunt unveiled details about his upcoming sophomore album, Southside, due out on April 3. This is Hunt's first new record since his debut, 2014's Montevallo. "Hard To Forget" joins "Kinfolks" and "Sinning With You" as tracks previewed ahead of the new record.
Hunt will hit the road this summer for his "Southside Summer Tour" in support of the new album. Joining Hunt on the trek will be opening acts, Kip Moore and Travis Denning. A full list of cities and dates can be seen here. Tickets to the tour go on sale February 14.
In addition to his 2020 tour dates, which can be seen below, Hunt is also scheduled to perform at the iHeartCountry Festival on May 2 in Austin, Texas. The festival will also include additional performances from Dierks Bentley, Lady Antebellum, Dustin Lynch, Kelsea Ballerini and more.
