(Undated) -- A recent study shows that Delaware is ranked fifth in the country for its rate of children affected by the opioid epidemic. According to research, about 41 children per one-thousand in Delaware were affected in some way by opioid addiction in 2017. The study is based on children who may have accidentally ingested opioids, have an opioid use disorder themselves, or are affected by someone close to them who uses opioids. About 240-thousand children lost their parents to opioid overdoses in 2017.
