(Wilmington, DE) -- A citizen is now facing criminal charges after clashing with Wilmington City Council president Hanifa Shabazz. Dion Wilson said he was arrested Wednesday at his home, which comes about two weeks after he argued with Shabazz over being allowed to speak at a public meeting. Shabazz has pressed harassment and disorderly conduct charges against Wilson, reportedly telling police she feared for her safety. She has cited two incidents in which he yelled at her during public meetings, saying he said he would "punch her" if she was a man. Wilson is a frequent attendee of public meetings and a critic of various city officials. He calls the arrest an "overreach of power."
