Skull Found During New South Wilmington Park Excavation

(Wilmington, DE) -- City officials say a partial human skull was found earlier this year during excavation for the new South Wilmington Wetland Park. The discovery, made near South Walnut Street in July, was not made known to the public. The News Journal first reported the finding after learning about the case from a national missing and unidentified persons database. Wilmington police say the skull was given to the state Division of Forensic Science for testing. The database does not list a gender for the skull, and adds that no other remains were found in the area.
