Country Music News: Tuesday Sept 24th

Over his half-a-century career, Johnny Cash established himself as a mainstay in country music with classic songs such as "I Walk the Line," "Ring of Fire," "Folsom Prison Blues," and "A Boy Named Sue." Moreover, the "Man in Black" is widely regarded as an icon in music as a whole, not just the country genre.

Thanks to his deep interest in and appreciation for all types of music, Cash positioned himself as a prominent figure in country and beyond. During his lifetime -- especially on his The Johnny Cash Show television variety show -- he collaborated with artists of all stripes, and even after his death in 2003, his music lives on as new generations discover his expansive discography and other artists honor him with covers.

Additional stops are planned through Oct. 8, at San Francisco's Independent, Asbury Park, N.J.'s Stone Pony and more; a full list of stops is below.
