Benny's Picks: August 14th

With the trend of Hip-Hop and country cross-overs, it feels like a perfect time for Niko Moon to have dropped Drunk Over You. This song hits hard with a heavy base presence yet still brings that country tone and bottom line to the table. The song brings a familiar concept to the listener, You're upset over a break up and you get drunk to get by. However, it challenges the listener with the twist of "getting drunk over you is just wasting time." This song can very easily get caught up in this Hick-Hop trend country music is caught up in. But I can see this single sticking for a while!

This song is just another masterpiece for Mitch, whom already has a number 1 song under his belt in Garth Brooks Ask Me How I Know. This Nashville's Next alum made his bones as a writer in Nashville and is now ramping up his career as an artist. Raised By The Radio is an awesome nostalgic trip down memory lane for any music fan that grew up getting the tunes they loved from the radio at home or in their parents car.

This song isn't even a month old but Madison did an incredible job on this piece of music! Her voice echo's through this track bringing my mind hints of Maren Morris, Cam and Kacey Musgraves. The hook "My First Last Name" is such a simple way to connect to the modern American family which goes through a few marriages before getting fleshed out. I love the song. It's emotional, soulful, simplistic yet so deep and layered. It connects on a level that challenges you to think. The first of many hits to come from this Canadian country star!
