The Swingles Join The Choir School of Delaware at University of Delaware

The Swingles join in collaboration with the Choir School of Delaware to educate and entertain audiences in the Greater Philadelphia/Wilmington Region. This concert, in honor of the Choir School of Delaware’s 135th Anniversary, will be held on Thursday, March 28th at Mitchell Hall on the University of Delaware campus. Concert repertoire features music from the Renaissance through today, including original compositions and arrangements by The Swingles, and combined performances with the choristers of the Choir School.

Since they first made waves in the 1960s as the Swingle Singers, The Swingles have pushed the boundaries of vocal music. The seven young singers that make up today’s London-based group are driven by the same innovative spirit that has defined the five-time Grammy® winners since they first made waves in the 1960s. At a time when a cappella music is more popular than ever, The Swingles are recognized as masters of their craft.

“The Choir School “Harmonizes Life & Learning” with the belief that a rich offering of academic support and mentoring is amplified by the power of music. This organization has a strong legacy of serving and engaging Wilmington’s youth and families through music, averaging 40 performances each year throughout northern Delaware and Philadelphia,” said Arreon Harley-Emerson, Director of Music and Operations. The Choir School provides a life-changing experience for at-risk children ages 7-17 in the greater Wilmington, Delaware area. “Since becoming an after-school program two decades ago, Choir School students have earned a 100% high school graduation rate, with all going on to higher education or the services,” said Rosanne Foley, President, Board of Directors.
