(Dover, DE) -- Officials say a spotted lantern fly discovered in Kent County last week hitched a ride to Dover. It was later found dead by a resident and reported to the Delaware Department of Agriculture. The insect is called a "hitchhiker bug" because it can jump and attach itself to vehicles which carry it to a different location. The spotted lanternfly is a threat to agriculture in the First State, target crops including grapes, peaches and apples.
