Madonna Announces Confessions II - Sequel to Global Smash Album, Confessions On A Dance Floor
IT'S A POP EMERGENCY! The heavens have opened and the news has descended that the top selling female artist in history - Madonna, has announced Confessions II, a sequel to her global smash album Confessions On A Dance Floor.
Having teased the album for the last couple of years, Madonna wiped her Instagram clean a few days ago before dropping the news with an iconic image & a glittery, dizzying IG story. The message? The Queen is returning with brand new music.
Confessions On A Dance Floor, Madonna's 10th studio album, was released in November 2005, debuting at #1 in more than 40 countries and selling nearly 4 million copies around the world in its first week alone. It spawned the smash hit Hung Up which hit #1 in 47 countries, as well as Sorry, Get Together and Jump. It spawned The Confessions Tour which grossed $197 million and gave her the record at the time for the highest grossing female tour of all time (only to outdo herself with her next tour).
Confessions 2, looks to be helmed once again with Stuart Price, who almost exclusively co-produced and co-wrote the Confessions On A Dance Floor album with Madonna. The Queen of Pop has been posting teaser images of the two at his studio in London over the past few years. Additionally, Price returned as the musical director for Madonna's record breaking The Celebration Tour, which ended in 2024 grossing over $227 million with paid attendance of 1.1 million. Price returning to work with Madonna again is hugely anticipated by fans as the original Confessions album is widely considered one of Madonna's best albums.
Not much else is known currently about the album, although one song will be called I Feel So Free and the whole project releases July 3, 2026. The album is up for pre-order now everywhere, including Amazon in various formats. Will she once again bring back a new take on a classic sound to airwaves across the world? Time will tell. Will she format the album as one long uninterrupted DJ set like the first Confessions? Here's hoping. Will everyone be talking about it? Absofrigginloutely!
