Wedding During Hurricane Irma

No dress, no tux--no problem! While deployed in Florida this past weekend, friends and colleagues of National Guard airmen Lauren Durham and Michael Davis tried to convince the engaged couple—who skipped out on their scheduled wedding to answer the call of duty—to tie the knot right then and there in a hangar in the middle of Hurricane Irma. Amazingly, they agreed, so their wedding guests fetched plastic chairs and tuxedo t-shirts as the couple said their I-do’s in fatigues. “It started out as a joke, and it just kind of unfolded,” said Durham. “And it turned out to be really great.” Asked why they didn’t try to beg off duty on their scheduled wedding weekend, Davis told the AP, “Service before self.”
