DelaWHERE To Go for a Western Experience: Cowtown Cowboy Outfitters

In honor of Women’s History Month, DelaWHERE To Go is highlighting women-owned businesses across Delaware and nearby areas. This one may not be in Delaware, but it’s only about 20 minutes past the Delaware Memorial Bridge and absolutely worth the trip. Tucked away in Pilesgrove, New Jersey, just across from the iconic Cowtown Rodeo, is a destination that feels like a step into a completely different world. What began as a western wear store has grown into something much bigger and a place where shopping, food, and community all come together under one western-inspired experience.

Welcome to Cowtown Cowboy Outfitters!

A Legacy That Still Feels Alive Today

Cowtown Cowboy Outfitters has been a staple in South Jersey for decades, rooted in a deep history of western tradition. The moment you walk through the doors, you can feel that legacy, not in a way that feels outdated, but in a way that feels preserved and intentional. There’s something about the space that immediately sets it apart. It doesn’t feel like a typical retail store. Instead, it feels like you’ve stepped into a place where western culture is still very much alive, evolving, and being shared with a new generation.

The Hat Room: A Standout Experience

One of the most memorable parts of Cowtown Cowboy Outfitters is the hat section, often referred to as the hat room.

This space feels like its own experience within the store. Walls are lined with cowboy hats in every style, from classic felt to lightweight straw, creating a visual moment that immediately draws you in.

What makes it even more special is the level of detail and care that goes into each piece. This isn’t just about grabbing a hat off the shelf — it’s about finding one that fits your style and feels like your own. The craftsmanship, the variety, and the atmosphere all come together to make this one of the most unique sections of the entire store.

Western Style, Head to Toe

Beyond the hat room, Cowtown Cowboy Outfitters offers a full range of western wear that allows you to fully step into the look and feel of the lifestyle. The store is thoughtfully divided into men’s, women’s, and kids’ sections, making it easy for anyone to find something that fits their style. Whether you’re shopping for yourself, your family, or even preparing for a full rodeo look, there’s something for every age and every level of western influence.

From boots and denim to statement belts and accessories, each section feels curated while still offering a wide variety of options. There’s a balance between everyday wearable pieces and standout items, making it approachable for someone new to western style while still exciting for those who already love it. The layout invites you to explore, and it’s easy to spend time moving through each section, discovering new pieces along the way.

The Marketplace: Where Shopping Meets Local Flavor

Just when you think you’ve seen it all, the experience continues at The Marketplace at Cowtown, a space that adds an entirely new layer to the visit.

The Marketplace blends the feel of a local market with a country-style boutique, creating an atmosphere that feels warm, inviting, and full of character. It’s the kind of place where every corner has something different to offer. Inside, you’ll find a variety of locally inspired goods, from handmade soaps and self-care products to country décor that brings that rustic, cozy aesthetic into your home. Shelves are filled with items that feel personal and unique, making it easy to find something you didn’t even know you were looking for. But what really makes The Marketplace stand out is that it goes beyond shopping.

There’s a food section built right into the space, where visitors can grab something to eat while they explore. From fresh pizza to other casual bites, it adds a whole new element to the experience, turning a simple shopping trip into something you can truly spend time enjoying. It feels less like a store and more like a gathering space and somewhere you can walk through, discover new products, grab food, and just take your time.

Bullhide Brewery: A New Energy at Cowtown

Adding to the experience is Bullhide Brewery, a newer addition that brings a completely different energy to the property.

The brewery introduces a social and entertainment element, offering a space where people can gather, enjoy craft beer, and take part in events like live music and line dancing. It carries that same western-inspired feel but with a more modern, lively atmosphere.

It’s the kind of place that naturally extends your visit. What starts as a quick stop can easily turn into an afternoon or evening spent exploring everything Cowtown has to offer.

A Behind-the-Scenes Look at Bullhide Brewery

One of the highlights of my visit was getting the chance to go behind the scenes at Bullhide Brewery and see how everything comes together.

Stepping into the brewing space gave a completely different perspective on the experience. While the front of the brewery is all about atmosphere and community, behind the scenes is where the craft really happens. From the equipment to the process itself, you can see the level of detail and care that goes into every batch. It added a whole new layer of appreciation for the space, not just as a place to grab a drink, but as a place where something is thoughtfully created from start to finish. Being able to see that side of Bullhide made the experience feel even more immersive, and it’s a reminder that Cowtown isn’t just about what you see on the surface, there’s so much more happening behind it.

Cowtown Cowboy Outfitters is more than just a place to shop, it’s a destination that brings together western tradition, local community, and hands-on experiences all in one space. From the hat room to the marketplace, the brewery, and the events that bring it all to life, every part of Cowtown feels intentional. Whether you’re going for the first time or planning your next visit, it’s the kind of place that leaves you wanting to come back and experience it all over again.
