Watch "The Daughters" New Music Video from Little Big Town

Little Big Town have released a new video for their new single “The Daughters.” After releasing a dance clip for the empowering balled, they’ve shared a new clip which still has dancers, but also shows young girls being taught things like etiquette, how to put on makeup and sit right, with one girl itching to rebel against what’s expected, and finally succeeding.

“This song is about the laundry list of expectations and long-standing traditions put on women,” Karen Fairchild, who co-wrote the song with Sean McConnell and Ashley Ray, tells CMT. “It’s about equality. It’s about hope for our children and what their view of the world will be. It’s not about a lack of believing in God or God’s love for girls.”

And while this song may not fit into the bro-country format that gets the most plays on country radio, LBT doesn’t really care. “We’ve always tried to let the best song win when it comes to what we cut and what we choose to share with the world,”Jimi Westbrook notes. “This song has always felt special to us, and it’s important for us to stand behind that, and the story it tells."

He adds, "Of course, we would love for country radio to play it and embrace it the same way we’ve seen our fans react to it.” Check out the video here.
