Rockefeller Center has been placing Christmas trees in its plaza since 1931, and had its first tree lighting ceremony in 1933. Before Black Friday existed, the tree lighting ceremony heralded the true beginning of the holiday season

The ceremony takes place next Wednesday evening and the musical performances cover a wide array of genres, from country to pop to traditional to r&b. We'll hear music from Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani, Jimmie Allen, Andrea Bocelli along with Matteo Bocelli and Virginia Bocelli, David Foster and Katharine McPhee, Brett Eldredge, Mickey Guyton, Alicia Keys, the Muppets of Sesame Street, Dan + Shay, The Shindellas, Louis York and more.

This year, "Christmas in Rockefeller Center" airs November 30 at 8ET on NBC. Happy holidays!
