The Chicks Release New Song "March March"

The Dixie Chicks are cutting ties with the Civil War. The three-woman band changed their name to The Chicks on social media and their website. They have not issued a statement on the change, but a quote on their website says they wanted to "meet this moment." Another country band, Lady Antebellum, renamed themselves Lady A earlier this month for the same reason.

And unlike Lady A, who found that there was another artist using that name, The Chicks covered all their bases, with their rep later adding, “A sincere and heartfelt thank you goes out to ‘The Chicks’ of NZ for their gracious gesture in allowing us to share their name,” adding, “We are honored to co-exist together in the world with these exceptionally talented sisters. Chicks Rock! — Emily, Natalie and Martie”

Meanwhile, in addition to the name announcement, The Chicks dropped a new protest song, “March March,” which will appear on their upcoming album “Gaslighter,” which drops July 17th.

The video features clips from the recent Black Lives Matter marches, and ends with the names of all the black Americans killed by police, along with the line, “Use your voice. Use your vote,” and links to social justice organizations. Check out the song below.
