The fire that destroyed Willey Farms in Townsend early Monday morning reached heights of five alarms. DelawareOnline reports Route 13 was expected to be closed in both directions from Red Lion and Pine Tree Roads throughout the Monday commute. Drivers along Route 1 sat through added traffic as rerouted drivers slowed to catch a glimpse of what remained of the structure. Smoke was still rising from the scene at 7:30 am after the fire that broke out around 2:30 am, and required assistance from fire companies in Maryland and Pennsylvania. The Willey farms family acknowledged in a post on their Facebook page that the building is a total loss, though they hope to rebuild in the future.
