FOX Sports Radio host Doug Gottlieb has accepted the head coaching position for the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay men's basketball team, the school announced in a press release shared on Tuesday (May 14).

Gottlieb, 48, a Milwaukee native and former collegiate and international professional basketball former point guard, has contributed to FOX Sports as a basketball analyst since 2017, hosting the Doug Gottlieb Show for FOX Sports Radio and occasionally filling in as a substitute host for Colin Cowherd on the FS1 television program The Herd with Colin Cowherd.

"It is an honor beyond measure to be named the 10th Men's Basketball coach in UWGB history. I would like to thank Chancellor Mike Alexander and Josh Moon for this incredible opportunity," said Gottlieb. "Every kid has a dream growing up, some want to be firefighter, others want to be president, I have always wanted to be a head basketball coach at the Division I level," Gottlieb said. "As a kid who was born at Columbia Hospital and a dad who was, at that time a head coach in the UW system, it is even more amazing to get this opportunity to come back to Wisconsin and live out my dreams.

"Green Bay Basketball will be a family, and you are all welcome to join the family. Together, we are going to play great basketball, bring positive attention to the Fox Valley and UWGB community and have a heck of a lot of fun doing it. I can't wait to meet you all and welcome you to the new Phoenix Family. If you need me, I'll be in the gym. Let's be great."

Gottlieb began his collegiate career at Notre Dame, leading the Fighting Irish in assists, steals and minutes played during his freshman season in 1995 before transferring to Golden West College and later Oklahoma State. The Milwaukee native played professionally for the Oklahoma Storm of the United States Basketball League, the Salina Rattlers of the International Basketball Association, PBC Ural Great Perm of the Russian League, Maccabi Ra'anana of the Israeli National League and State Clermontois BA in France before beginning his broadcasting career.
