House Generator Sparks Blaze That Burns Three Slaughter Beach Homes

(Slaughter Beach, DE) -- Officials say an exterior house generator is the cause of a fire that torched three Slaughter Beach homes yesterday. The State Fire Marshall's office says the blaze was reported around 2:30 p.m. and began in the 200-block of Bay Avenue. Because Slaughter Beach has no fire hydrants, fire companies must use tankers that bring water to the scene. Firefighters confirmed at 6:10 p.m. that the blaze had been put out. No injuries were reported and the fire damage was estimated at 800-thousand dollars.
