Trash Workers Injured By Explosion

(Wilmington, DE) -- Police say two trash workers were injured by an apparent explosion in Wilmington. The incident happened Thursday morning on Vandever Avenue. The workers loaded a pressurized oxygen tank cylinder into the compactor which exploded into shrapnel after being crushed. One of the workers was hospitalized with minor injuries. The second victim was flown to a hospital with a chest wound. He was listed in critical condition but sustained non-life threatening injuries.
